Roman Attractions in the Old City
Sultan Ahmet Mosque : Facing to St.Sophia Museum built in 17th century. This is known as Blue Mosque because of magnificent interior decoration of Blue Iznik Tiles.
Hippodrome: This is and outdoor area where chariot races were organised during Byzantine Time.
Underground Cistern : There are 336 columns, the height of which is 9 meter, in Basilica Cistern, which can be reached with a ladder of 52 steps. wo Heads of Medusa, which are used as the bases of two columns, in the north western corner of the cistern, are masterpieces of the art of sculpture during the Roman period.
